Traveling is always a very exciting event, whether you will be going near or far. Your destination and travel duration will dictate what you need to pack and how much to pack. Deciding what to pack doesn’t have to be stressful if you follow these tips to “lighten the load!”
Before you haul out all the suitcases, you should first check with your airline to check the baggage regulations. Many airlines are limiting baggage to a single checked-in piece and a carryon piece. For international travel, some carriers will allow two checked in baggage pieces.
In addition to restricting the number of bags you can travel with, there are also limitations on the weight of your bags and the size of your carryon luggage. Beware that they are quite strict about the weight and you can be fined for bags that weigh more than the maximum amount. For an additional fee, some airlines will allow you to include another piece of luggage.
Make sure to check both the climate and the current weather of your destination, including temperature. With the unusual weather trends over the last few years, there is no reason to assume that it will never get cool in a tropical location or warm in northern climes. If you understand the current weather patterns of your destination, you will be ready for any situation that may arise.
Make a list of the things that you will need to pack; having a list ensures that you will not forget anything, especially your toothbrush! Trying to pack without any planning can leave you with an overstuffed suitcase, unneeded items or a bundle of chaos on your bed. Having a list will make sure that you will pack only what you need and that you won’t forget anything integral. You might find that as you pack that you will need to add to your list as the need arises.
Try not to pack on the last day or all at once. Start packing early as many days as you will be gone; if you are going to be gone for seven days then start packing seven days early. This will allow you to put things that you will not be wearing in the bag early and it will not interfere with those things that will have to be packed the last couple of days. Keeping clutter down will relieve stress.
Using these travel packing tips will allow you to enjoy your travels without the worries!
